The referral process begins with a conversation between manager and employee.

Complete referral process

The manager completes the Occupational Health referral process, accessed through the APOHS  portal. See our Manager’s guide to the referral process here.

Attend appointment

The employee is invited to a telephone or face-to-face Occupational Health appointment.

Receive referral report

Our team produces a report with recommendations for action (The contents of the report will be discussed with the employee before it is shared).

Discuss the referral report

The employee and their manager discuss the report and its recommendations and agree an action plan. You can see advice on interpreting the report here.

What next after a referral?

You should now have a path to resolve or manage the situation. If something changes or you need further help, you will need to make another referral.
